The United States Prison (USP) in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania is the oldest, maximum-security facility in the nation. Ike was incarcerated there from June of 2001 to January of 2004. Lewisburg is located in central Pennsylvania, north of Harrisburg, in the beautiful Susquehanna River valley.

While at Lewisburg, Ike began to develop his vision and technique as an artist, including the use of imps (or emps, as we call them--a reference to the Easy Money Poetry Society)), whimsy, and text, all means to portray life in a federal prison..
